Loans require repayment and accumulate interest. Loans are not considered as awards by TAMS when assessing needs since they have to be repaid. TAMS strongly suggests students and parents understand their financial obligation completely prior to accepting any loans offered. 

If considering loans, TAMS recommends parents/students reach out via email to the TAMS Assistant Dean of Finance and Operations (https://tams.unt.edu/contact) prior to accepting any loans. Students are automatically offered federal loans in their my.unt.edu account by UNT Financial Aid based on their FAFSA completion. If a student completed the TASFA instead of the FAFSA, students will not receive loan offers through UNT Financial Aid.
