Senior Mentor Application

Senior Mentors are selected from among their peers to be lifted up as role models for the incoming junior class.  Being a Senior Mentor is a great privilege, and a role TAMS Student Life Staff takes very seriously.  Senior Mentors are selected based on a variety of criteria, including community service record, disciplinary record, character, display of leadership and community involvement.

PLEASE NOTE: FEMALE and MALE SENIOR MENTORS MUST APPLY AS A ROOMMATE PAIR.  APPLICATION WINDOW: March 20 (form opens at 11:00 PM) - March 31 (form closes at 12:00 AM)!

1.  The first step is the electronic application that MUST be filled out by each individual. Please read through the questions and share a little bit about yourself.

2.  The second step is the references review. TAMS Staff will speak with your current Senior Mentors, Academic Counselor and other staff members about what they think about your character and your potential for being an awesome Senior Mentor. If you don’t know your current SMs very well, then share which staffers do know you well. It is important that Senior Mentors demonstrate they can have positive working relationships with TAMS staff.

3.  The third step is the paper cut. If your grades aren’t looking as though they are up to par, or if you are not given a favorable reference, or if it looks like you will not have enough time next year to devote to being a Senior Mentor, then your application will be eliminated in the paper cut.

4.  The fourth step is the Senior Mentor Group Interview. The two of you will be interviewed by a mixture of TAMS staff and current Senior Mentors. If you are asked to interview, be thinking through with your partner your strengths/weaknesses as a pair and any ideas you might have as Senior Mentors.

5.  The last step is decision time! TAMS staff will look at the size of the incoming junior class, and determine how many Senior Mentors will be needed.

Good luck!
